COUNTRY SINGER, JOE KING IS A FORMER PROFESSIONAL NFL FOOTBALL PLAYER WHO PLAYED SAFETY FOR FIVE SEASONS FOR THE CINCINNATI BENGALS, THE CLEVELAND BROWNS, AND THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS BEFORE RETIRING FROM THE NFL WITH THE OAKLAND RAIDERS.

He is currently based in Dallas, Texas. He has been playing, writing and recording music for over 15 years. He has a degree in Physical Education from Oklahoma State University and played the trumpet all thru grade school. He has been influenced by listening to old gospel quartet songs and music mainly by Sam Cooke, due to his dad being a great singer himself. When growing up he listened to blues music and the great sounds of Motown. He was introduced to country music at an early age, and began to love the stories of the songs around the age of 16. His selection of music became more country than any other genre, and artists that he has been influenced by are George Strait, Charley Pride, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, and Kenny Rogers just to name a few, but the list goes on. His favorite compliment is “You have a country soulful sound but a natural sound”, by Ed Garcia former bass guitar player for Ray Price.

Joe was recently invited to Los Angeles, CA to perform in front of the Executive Producers of the hit television show, The Voice. The producers and casting personnel of the show loved Joe’s performance and invited him to join the show as a contestant. Unfortunately, due to heavy scheduling demands, Joe had to decline the offer and returned to Texas to fulfill his existing commitments to the various entertainment venues around the State of Texas. Joe has performed on such great stages as Cowboys Red River, Rodeo Exchange, the Ft. Worth Stock Show, the Houston Stock Show, The White Elephant Saloon, Eskimo Joe’s, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, The Superbowl at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, The Longhorn Saloon and many, many more. Joe’s original song, Wide Open Places, was selected to be a part of the soundtrack for the movie entitled, “Sing For Their Supper.” This film was aired at the Cannes Film Festival as well as the New York and Long Beach Film Festivals. The proceeds from the sale of the soundtrack go to support 2nd Harvest Food Bank. Joe is currently working on new material while still learning and growing.
